The 13th annual Toys for Tots 5K and 10K turned
out to be another record-breaking event on Thanksgiving Day at Mariners Museum Park.Topping the record list was the $20,000
raised for the local U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. "That's pretty amazing," said chief race organizer
Laura Cvitanovich of Happy Pace Races. The amount raised was $6,000 more than last year. There
was also a record number of entries, 1,412. That easily topped last year's total of 1,349. "It gets bigger every year,"
Cvitanovich said. "It's become a (Thanksgiving) tradition for a lot of people and such a family event. We had four generations
from one family that came out to walk in it." There were participants from as far away
as England, California and New Hampshire.
